I am a Publisher, a Consultant, An Entrepreneur
Extraordinaire or so I’m told and I want to share with you
a thing or two that has helped me become successful.
First and foremost, I believe (and live a philosophy) that
Success Is A Choice.
I can choose to be successful or I can choose not to be. It
is in my control.
I choose to be successful and therefore, I am.
Does it take hard work? Absolutely. Everything worthwhile
requires commitment.
It also takes putting yourself second to someone who needs
help. It may be a client, or a new person just entering the
internet arena.
Moreover, it takes developing realistic goals. My goals
must always RUMBA! I take the time to consider if they are:
* REALISTIC
* UNDERSTANDABLE
* MEASURABLE
* BEHAVIORAL
* ACHIEVABLE
If my goals meet this criteria, I know I have a good chance
at success.
The second part of my “Success Is A Choice” philosophy is I
must always “PARTICIPATE IN MY OWN SURVIVAL”.
So, what does that mean? To me it means getting up, dusting
myself off and trying again.
Or, you can look at it this way.
Imagine you are in a canoe and it suddenly up-swells,
tossing you overboard. You are not a strong swimmer and the
friend who is with you cannot swim at all.
What are you going to do? Let ‘fear’ cause you to drown?
Or, are you going to find a way to reach that canoe?
Are you going to make it? I don’t know. I do know if you do
not actively participate in your own survival, you will
die.
When something goes off kilter in my business, and it does,
I stay focused on recovery vs giving up. I look at the
problem, admit where I made the mistake, and try again.
What I do not do is allow myself to become negative about
the occurrence. I’m a very positive thinking person anyway
and so that helps! But, I’m also human and there have been
many times when the ‘little devil” on my left shoulder
would whisper, “Oh come on! Give it up, already!” As you
can see, that thought was gone before it took full flight.
Clearly, owning and operating your own business, online or
otherwise, can be frustrating if you do not have a clear
direction or plan to get you there. If you do not have one
and would like guidance on how to get there, please contact
me. If you have made a plan, but it isn’t working as well
as you would like, take the first step by using the RUMBA
solution above to analyze the current state of your
business. This will not only show you where you went off
track, but also give you a new path toward success.
Until Next Time,
Dev

A SMART CHUCKLE! All Is Fair In Business
A shopkeeper was dismayed when a brand new
business much like his own opened up next door
and erected a huge sign which read ‘BEST DEALS.’
He was horrified when another competitor opened
up on his right, and announced its arrival with an
even larger sign, reading ‘LOWEST PRICES.’
The shopkeeper panicked, until he got an idea.
He put the biggest sign of all over his own shop.
It read: ‘MAIN ENTRANCE’ <BIG GRIN!>
